Process Development Engineer SGS - Venlo, The Netherlands

We have a great opportunity for a Process Development Engineer SGS .

Objective

Our Process Development Engineer SGS devises creative and/or innovative solutions for existing or new processes depending on market developments. These activities are carried out within the R&D Technology team as well as multidisciplinary.

Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Developing new and improving existing processes/products according to a defined developing structure (3D).
  • PD Engineer SGS improves existing and develops new processes. The associated process specifications for (including the transfer to) the sales and production departments (Operations). He does this by defining the product/process requirements, developing a product/process that meets the requirements, preparing a product/process for production and modifying existing products/processes.
  • Planning
  • During the development process of a new product/process, under the supervision of the R&D Team Leader, the Process Development Engineer SGS ensures monitoring of the planning regarding time, costs and hours spent and reporting deviations to the Team Leader R&D, resulting in the realization of the project within the agreed objectives. He does this by drawing up, monitoring and adjusting a time schedule and monitoring the budget.
  • Conducting basic research
  • Process Development Engineer SGS carries out basic research in collaboration with a Senior Project Leader R&D (Technology team member), resulting in gaining knowledge about new and existing processes. This can be on an own developed pilot scale or full scale.
  • Cooperation with various departments about development projects
  • Process Development Engineer SGS participates in the project team for a new process/product (or acts as a leader in smaller projects). In cooperation with all stakeholders within the development project the project must meet the defined requirements to be successful. For this projects meetings will be held on a regular basis where depending on the subject and the status of the project different departments participate (Engineering, operations, service, marketing, product management…)
  • Search and compare suppliers
  • Process Development Engineer SGS searches for suppliers in consultation with the Purchasing Department and compares suppliers, resulting in an optimal choice of suppliers. He does this by supplying specifications for the product to be purchased and by technical assessment of the offers received.
  • Support service
  • Process Development Engineer SGS supports service with solving problems related to the processes/products in the operation. He participates in -and supports RCCM projects and makes proposals for structural improvements to solve problems.
  • Support Sales
  • Process Development Engineer SGS defines the correct system/process design for sales in case it deviates from the standard process design. He does this by supplying specifications for the technical review of installation parts / unit operations, making energy and mass balances and participating in technical reviews.
  • Support OPS
  • Process Development Engineer SGS supports engineering and project leaders by providing the PFD and the engineering of the processes/installation parts. He does this by supplying specifications for and technical assessment of installation parts, making energy and mass balances and participating in P&ID reviews and HAZOPs.
  • Communication takes place with
  • Product Management about developing new processes/products or modifying existing products, determining the requirements for the new or to be modified products, and making the specifications / of the process/product to be ultimately realized.
  • Production about changing existing products, defining the specifications of the process / product to be ultimately realized and give input for the operating manuals.
  • Production about the transfer of new or to be changed products, setting the most important quality requirements for the intermediate –and assembled products.
  • Suppliers about the requirements for new or to be changed products.
  • Sales to define the correct system process design.
  • Production for support in the projects (process design, HAZOPs and P&ID reviews

Key Qualifications
  • min HBO niveau in Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, Applied Physics or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Preferable 3 years of experience as a Engineer in an Development- R&D- Test- / Process environment
  • Knowledge of Project Management
  • Mastering Microsoft Office
  • Being able to read technical drawings
  • Knowledge of process simulation tools ChemCad/Aspen is an advantage
  • Knowledge of HAZOP’s and LOPA is an advantage
  • Dutch (good speaking and writing skills), English (good speaking and writing skills), German (good speaking and writing skills).
