Position Summary:

The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) will work with our customers, market communities and sales teams to position Thermo Fisher’s Cell Culture & Cell Therapy products within the Pharmaceutical Bioproduction or BioProcessing Market, maximising the sale of these products and growing our business within The Netherlands and Belgium, (plus potentially other countries).

You will develop in-depth knowledge of the market, our customers and our competitors and utilize this to identify sales opportunities. You will then work closely with prospective customers to forge connections and build relationships, developing a strong business pipeline for future growth. You will also maintain relationships with current customers to maintain a good quality of service and foster organic growth.

This role will involve extensive travel across the Territory (on average you will spend 4 days per week travelling, with the remainder of the time spent working from home), with frequent overnight stays required. We can be flexible on candidate location and will consider any candidates living within the The Netherlands or Belgium.

Responsibilities:


  • Hunt for new opportunities within assigned territory, leveraging product portfolio to build a foundation for long term growth
  • Drive existing funnel of opportunities to accelerate closure rates
  • Develop a territory plan and work independently on daily activities to meet the plan goals
  • Utilize intelligence-based prospecting to identify new potential opportunities
  • Prioritize New Product Introduction (NPI) prospects within territory to maximize adoption rates and revenue return
  • Act on marketing-qualified leads, quickly converting to new opportunities
  • Collaborate with and influence Bioproduction Account Managers (BAMs) and Field Application Specialists (FAS) within their district to develop and manage account growth strategies
  • Qualify prospects to justify the time and resource investment
  • Own the Salesforce.com entry process, including management of technical meetings to accurately and thoroughly complete the Product Brief
  • Establish and build relationships with key decision-makers, identifying the technical buyers
  • Initiate product evaluations as part of the sales process, coordinating activities between the BAM and FAS. Responsible for service-related product sampling.
  • Identify GEMBA opportunities and coordinate event activities with the BAm
  • Assist all BAMs within assigned territory with sales and account planning efforts to achieve Cell Culture sales goals, including value proposition development across the wide BPD portfolio
  • Aid in development of technical solution-matching for complex opportunities
  • Review all price proposals before submission to the customer, and consults on RFQ submissions
  • Assist BAM with negotiation strategy development and execution
  • Attend technical collaboration visits to Business Unit manufacturing and R&D sites
  • Act as trusted advisor for key contacts within an account and bring in technical experts as needed to advance the solution process
  • Provide post-sales product support; follow up on all product performance complaints or inquiries to ensure resolution
  • Consult with key account managers and internal planning stake holders on obtaining customer forecasts for new and existing base business
  • Represent Cell Culture at knowledge-based seminars and customer experience workshops
  • Maintain and enhance technical knowledge on assigned product lines, company literature, and competitive products
  • Keep abreast of competitive products and support BAMs to counter customer objectives or preferences for competitor products
  • Feed voice of customer to the Business Unit

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree minimum in a Life Science-related field, such as Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Engineering
  • Several years’ sales experience working in a role related to the pharmaceutical bioproduction process (essential), as you must possess an in-depth understanding of the specific customer challenges related to pharmaceutical bioproduction and be able to propose satisfactory solutions
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role
  • Previous experience working with distributor partners (desirable, but not essential)
  • A sales “hunter” with a commercial mindset, strongly motivated by desire to win new business
  • Ability to interface with and successfully influence stakeholders at all levels within an organization
  • Shows sound judgment, tact and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers
  • Able to handle confidential and proprietary information with sensitivity
  • Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and perform as a team player
  • Fluent in English
  • Driving licence
